Welcome to Your Postnatal Journey

Congratulations! You’re about to welcome your new baby into the world. My name is Gemma, and I’m a certified Postnatal Doula offering support to families in Brighton and Hove during the fourth trimester. I live in Brighton with my husband and our five wonderful children.

About me

Becoming a parent is a life-changing experience, bringing immense joy, happiness, and unconditional love. However, adjusting to life with a new baby and navigating maternity services can sometimes feel overwhelming. As a Postnatal Doula, I’m here to provide both emotional and practical support, along with up-to-date, evidence-based information to help guide you through this new phase.

My focus is on making sure that mothers feel supported, cared for, and nurtured—just as they do for their newborns. I believe that when mothers receive the right care and have time to rest and recover, it leads to a healthier and more positive postnatal experience.

“The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new." Osho

My Services

In addition to postnatal support, I also offer ongoing assistance as your family continues to grow and adapt. Whether it’s helping with your baby’s developmental stages, supporting your family’s adjustment to new routines, or simply providing practical help around the house, I’m here for you beyond the immediate postnatal period. My goal is to offer continuous care as your family’s needs evolve.

Testimonials

Hiring a post-natal doula was the best decision we could have made before the birth of our second child. We moved to Brighton during the pregnancy and I didn’t have a support system in place, so having Gemma’s support made the world of difference to my post-partum experience. Her kind and calm manner made her presence a real pleasure in our home; she took care of my mental and physical health, supported with breast-feeding challenges, ensured we ate properly and had clean clothes to wear, and, best of all, having her around meant that I could rest and recover during the exhausting early days with a toddler and a newborn. I couldn’t recommend Gemma more highly — we’ll all miss her.

Lucy

We couldn’t be more grateful for all your help and support in getting us through those tougher days and allowing us to have that extra bit of headspace to enjoy our time together as a family of 4. Hopefully we’re able to see you soon as I know Otis, for one, would absolutely love to play more games with you

Sammy & Dom

Gemma’s postpartum doula services were invaluable when my husband was out of pocket due to work in the weeks after my second son was born. She was an incredible source of steady, reassuring support and practical knowledge, and helped me through those early, foggy, sleep deprived days while I was navigating feeding issues alongside a c-section recovery and caring for a toddler on top of it all. I didn’t even have to ask, she simply knew what I needed before I could think of it! In addition to giving me the rest I needed, she helped keep our household afloat and shared helpful resources right here in the Fiveways community. I’m so grateful for all of Gemma’s help and highly recommend her.
